About the Salty Yogis
Our mission at The Salty Yogis is to help surfers improve their surfing through the power of yoga. By integrating yoga into their routines, surfers can improve their flexibility, strength, and mental focus, leading to better performance on the waves.
We believe that the union of surf and yoga creates a harmonious balance that not only improve physical abilities but also fosters a deeper connection with the ocean.
Thats why we created different ressources for you to become this surf-yogi, connected to the ocean, and connected to your mind & body.
What The Salty Yogis is NOT ?
The Salty Yogis's goal isn't about achieving crazy postures but reaching a calm state of mind, like waiting for waves. We aim to bring daily meditative movement into your life. Sitting on your board, watching the horizon, your thoughts shrink, and your mind quiets. This is what we strive for with yoga and Asanas: a quiet mind. It's challenging, but not impossible. With practice, self-respect, and breath control, it will start to work.
Discipline yourself to step on the mat regularly, and you'll see improvements in flexibility, mobility, and mental health.
Hi, we are Joana and Florianne, yoga teachers & students, surfers, lovers of nature and oceans, living our dream life and growing our community.
Florianne
Avid goofy surfer & yogi, Florianne, originally from Belgium, has learned surfing in Morocco and is now living mostly in Fuerteventura. And if not, traveling the world chasing waves.
She did her 200h Yoga Teacher Training in Rishikesh, India in 2022, and has never stopped practicing & teaching since then. Her favourite style is Hatha Yoga. (Next to Yoga for Surfers of course ;) )
She met with Joana in Arugam Bay, Sri Lanka in the beautiful long wave of Main Point in 2022, and from there it all started. She is now dedicating her time and energy 100% in the Salty Yogis and bringing both of her passions to this community.
Joana
Joana is a Parisian born and bred. However some Portuguese blood is also running through her veins.
Self-taught explorer with a knack for trying a little bit of everything. She is gradually embracing the idea that there's something greater than what society has taught her. For her, nothing is more important than freedom. She strongly believes that everyone should listen to their inner voice and trust their instincts.
Originally working in the humanitarian sector, she switch her path to become a yoga teacher. Indeed, she firmly believes that if everyone embraced a bit more the principles of Yamas and Niyamas, the world could truly become a better place.
